Sunday Morning Brunch
raises $1540 for the Neola Veterans' Monument
American Legion Post #330 hosts a Sunday morning brunch at the Neola Area Community Center. all of the proceeds will go towards the Neola Veterans' Monument. The group served over 300 people with a variety of guests. Many were local citizens and over 100 were a surprise group, the 443rd Transportation Company under the company commander, James Geisler. The 443rd Transportation Company had come to perform training in the Neola pool. Tears came to the eyes of one of the Legion members as a $100 check was handed over by Kurtis Knake of Unadilla, NE towards the Veterans' Monument. If anyone was wondering what the men and women fighting today think of the Veterans' Monument, they need wonder no more. The brunch made it loud and clear. Those Men and Women just kept saying "Thank You" over and over again. So as your flag is flying high in your town of Neola, Iowa remember....it is also flying high in the hearts of those men and women of the 443rd Transportation Company. The American Legion Post #330 and all of it's members would like to thank "ALL" of the guests that came and supported their fundraiser. "The community members have shown great courage and follow through with this project and we are honored to be appreciated by those we live with." says Veteran, and Neola citizen, Lonnie Ring.
